Sarah Lim, LPC
Licensed Professional CounselorWhether you are looking for hope, happiness, or help-seeking counseling is an active step toward your mental and emotional wellness. The search for a therapist can be overwhelming as you look for a professional that you could trust with your child, deepest pains, consuming anxieties, worst mistakes, and what can feel like the last straw. Behind every presenting issue is a person with the qualities and strength to keep fighting forward. It is my job to help you discover those internal motivations and find peace in/for yourself, your relationships, and your family.
My counseling is grounded in a Humanistic framework, which is based on the belief that individuals already possess the qualities needed to flourish. I bring a solution-focused and strength-based mindset, along with a practice of caring confrontation to help my clients discover their internal motivation and maximize their potential.
In addition to being a therapist, I am currently working toward my LCPC license and Ph.D. in Educational Policy at the University of Illinois to research how to incorporate more social-emotional support within the school systems to help marginalized students. With six years of experience working as a counselor at an urban, Title 1 school and two years of working as an adjunct professor for counseling graduate students, I am passionate about supporting students, educators, and families in navigating the school system. As a child of an immigrant and 1.5 generation Korean-American, I am also eager to be of service to the AAPI community.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out with questions. It is important to feel you can connect with your counselor, and it would be my privilege to be a part of your journey.
