David Hoover, PsyD

David Hoover, PsyD, is a licensed clinical psychologist of Korean and European descent. Dr. Hoover completed his graduate psychology training at Wheaton College, during which time he worked at local community clinics, university counseling centers, hospitals, and outpatient group practices delivering individual, couples, and group psychotherapy services to diverse populations. He is now the owner and Executive Director of Chicago Clinical Associates, a group outpatient behavioral healthcare practice in downtown Chicago.

Dr. Hoover works with individuals broadly in addressing general mood and relational struggles, and specializes in working with those attempting to overcome complex trauma and abuse experiences, process addictions & compulsive behaviors, and issues related to sexuality. He is certified in EMDR, a specific therapeutic approach tailored towards trauma-recovery, and his professional interests include contemporary psychoanalytic theory, multicultural sensitivity, and spiritually-integrative therapeutic practices.

Dr. Hoover maintains ongoing engagement in the professional field through his membership and activity in the Illinois Psychological Association, American Psychological Association, American Psychoanalytic Association, Christian Association for Psychological Studies, Society for the Exploration of Psychoanalytic Therapies and Theology, International Association for Relational Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy, and the International Association for Psychoanalytic Self Psychology.
